π©βπ» What is a Hackathon?
A hackathon is a fun and creative event where students work in small teams to build coding projects such as games, apps, or simulations. At the end of the day, projects are assessed by judges and a winner is chosen.
Hackathons are a popular part of university life for computing students, and weβre organising a junior version tailored for children of all experience levels including complete beginners!
π§ Learning Structure
- Children will be grouped into Tracks based on their experience (from beginner to advanced).
- Children will be placed in teams of 3-4 students and teams will rotate through several roles so everyone contributes.
- Projects are fun and age-appropriate, ranging from coding Scratch games to simple Python simulations.
- Tutors check in regularly to support students and answer questions.
